Cheshire: where the gates are new and the risks are newer.
The triangle between Alderley Edge, Wilmslow and Prestbury holds one of the densest concentrations of private wealth outside London — much of it young, newly made, and photographed weekly. Gated drives and period halls sit minutes from one another, and Manchester Airport is barely twenty minutes from any of them: a convenience the geography extends equally to you and to anyone curious about your movements.
It is money that is easy to place. The restaurant belt through Alderley Edge village and along the Wilmslow road draws the same faces on the same evenings; the school run narrows to a handful of gates; and the county’s newer estates are frequently better at looking secure than being secure. The exposure here is rarely street robbery — it is the predictable pattern, the visible routine, and the home a developer sold as protected.
