Bradford built its wealth on wool and left the evidence in stone — the mills, the Little Germany warehouses, the model village at Saltaire — and the city centre is busy, commercial and mid-regeneration. The money now sits above and beyond it, up the Aire and Wharfe valleys toward Ilkley, Addingham and the Wharfedale villages, where moor-edge houses and old textile fortunes make the wealth belt one of the most concentrated in the north.
